But nothing like the original, I personally think they shouldn't have remade a classic. I'm 14 and I grew up watching the original...And the originals almost all the time is WAY better than the remake. This movie to me just seemed to desperate for attention and to top the first...Which it didn't. :-/

I've been a fan of Footloose for almost 13 years now and even I, a die hard fan of the '84 version, love the 2011 version too. They dis a remake, yes, but they did it with modernity too. You can't expect to have a copy-paste version when the original is 27 years old, it would have been unecessary and distasteful.

I think all you haters are forgetting the fact that this is a modern day version of the original footloose. Back in the 80's when the first one came out, that was considered sexy dancing! Fast forward 30 years and this is exactly what it's like now days! They weren't trying to remake the movie scene for scene. They wanted to put a fresh modern twist on it because 30 years later, times have changed. And I think they did a fabulous job!

This movie was AMAZING, I want to buy the DVD when it comes out and watch it over and over again. I know people who liked the original are upset, but think of it this way: I'm 14 so I wasn't around when the original came out. And you can't expect a bunch of teens to watch the 1984 film without rolling their eyes. This remake was even faithful to the original plot, maybe a little modernized, but something that my generation can relate to so it can pass on the moral the original one did.

Some parts are better and some worse than the original. Ren's new uncle and aunt were great, the original ones I just wanted to punch. The new Willard was much better than the original. This movie was great..I saw Footloose back in the 80s and this was better in my opinion...Kevin Bacon and Lori Singer weren't pro dancers, but Kenny and Julianne are...Julianne makes for a better, hotter, bad girl, than Lori, and even the guy who played Willard was better...I think it was better, as did several of the other old fogies talking about it at the end..Terrific flick and I recommend it to anyone...

 Remakes are made all the time. 40% of todays movies are remakes. Better movies were remakes. WIZARD OF OZ, 10 COMMANDMENTS, SCAREFACE etc etc etc. Thank God for remakes. Loved Al Pacino SCARFACE. It was inspired by the original not made to replace it. it is its own movie just as Scarface was as aposed to the original of that. It's like comparing two related people with completely different personalities. The original means something to you because it represents something of your time and I understand why some are opposed to the remake. However, I like to view the remake as its own thing with it's own style rather than comparing them too much.

@txmomoftwo1 This is FOOTLOOSE not GONE WITH THE WIND. In 1984 90% of the critics thought it was a dumb movie. the plot about kids not dancing in a town ran by a revernd didn't make since. ROGER EBERT said that Flashdande was 20x better and and he hated Flashdance. Personally I loved the 1st Footloose because it was fun. I think the remake will be fun. And I know smart addict critics will bash the new film like the first. What critics and others think shouldn't matter.

Erics vocals pushed this band to the front. Not a deep tone,(not a manly tone in my opinion), just power and that counted a lot in the 60's. The Doors obviously built around this style. Notice how the organ is a front instrument in those days!

The Animals were one of the most underated bands of the British Invasion era. i think its because unlike their felllow mates.. The Beatles and the Kinks and even the Stones who were considered the Bad boysof ROck.. . the Animals lead singer had this very manly persona. unlike the others very dreamy frontmen. like Paul McCartney and Ray Davies..of th eKInks.. Eric Burden was manly and had this deep sexy soulful voice to go along with that persona. They were one of the great bands .

Also a small British lad, very angry and performing outstanding!!Saw the Animals last year in Paradiso, Amsterdam. Fantastic!!! Still angry and performance oustanding. I don't like Just Bieber but I bet Beatles, Rolling Stones and The Animals were the "Justin Biebers" of the time, people would hate them and say they worship devil and more but they would get attention. I just think that we choose the quality of music we want to hear and if the majority prefers Justin Bieber lets just leave them alone and listen to some REAL music.

@breathlessloveless I'll admit i was just about to do the very thing you pointed out. I'll do it anyway, but i will explain why. I'm 30 years old, but it is a rule that there is a certain selection of music i am expected to listen to, enjoy, and follow. Then, you get a guy like me who realizes there is a whole world of other, better music out there, made by people who did this only for the sake of the music, and that presents an entirely different spectrum.

When I first heard this I honestly thought it was a Doors cover... Well, I hadn't really got into the Doors by then and this somehow reminded me of Morrison. This is a very different kind of song compared to "I'm a Beliver", it's fantastic to see that one band can do a lovesong and a more serious one. Excellent.

@rfranklinw1 I have to agree , I am 50 and music has always set memories for me . I was so lucky to hear these songs and see them on tv . With the exception of the 50's I witnessed so much music history . I have also been fortunate to have seen a lot if them live . In 09 I finally got to see three legends that I have wanted to see forever . Clapton ( with Roger Daltry ) , Jeff Beck and Robin Trower . I guess God hasn't forgot this old rocker , thanks .

@rfranklinw1 I'm 62 my wife of 40 years is 60 we both feel like we're in the prime of our lives.You don't know if you are going to live another 30 or 40 years. None of us know when that time will be. Even if someone is sick it doesn't always mean a death sentence. My aunt was sick with cancer was given 4 weeks to live. Before that 4 weeks was over my cousin who was 30 and healthy was killed on the job . My aunt who was 60 lived another year. My neice was 23 when she died , my brother was 27.

I grew up in the 60s, and looking back, any group, like The Animals, Procul Haren, Stones were a brief threat to The Beatles being No 1, so i hated them for that!!! Only later appreciated how brilliant they were as well!!

back in 65 or there abouts I spent a lot of time at my Grandma's. The best bit was her ancient stereophone where my cousin, in the Paras, had left a stack of vinyls, including the Amimals. I was only 7 but I lapped it up! and it formed my musical taste for the next 40 years. Thanks cousin!
